AUTHOR
Daniel
Daniel writes the guides, calculators, factoring pages and compliance pages on BuddyLoads, and checks every number on them against a primary source before it goes live.
What Daniel covers
The business side of owning a truck. That means running under your own authority or leasing on, reading a lease-purchase offer, working out cost per mile and a floor rate, what dispatch and factoring really cost, the contracts owners sign, and the DOT rules that change when you become your own carrier.
Every page is written for the person who pays the truck note: numbers first, in plain words, with the arithmetic shown so you can check it with your own figures. Where a calculator sits on a page, the formula and every assumption are printed under it.
How Daniel writes and checks a page
- Primary sources first. Federal rules come from the eCFR and FMCSA, tax basics from the IRS, costs from ATRI, and market rates from DAT, each with the date it was checked.
- Examples are labeled. Any load, settlement or week used to explain an idea is marked EXAMPLE, never presented as a real carrier.
- Professionals for the hard parts. Pages on tax, legal and insurance questions explain the basics and tell you to confirm your own situation with a tax professional, an attorney or a licensed agent.
- Partners disclosed. Where a page mentions a partner we may be paid by, it says so next to the link. See our disclosure.
- Dated and updated. Each page shows when it was last updated, and data-heavy pages are checked again at least once a year.
The full process is on our editorial policy page. Found a mistake? Send it through our contact page and pick "A correction to a guide"; corrections are read and fixed, and the update date changes when they are.
