How we research, source and correct what we publish
Owner-operators make money decisions from what they read. These are the rules every guide, calculator and dictionary entry on BuddyLoads follows.

Who writes
Guides, calculators, factoring and compliance pages are written and checked by Daniel. Bylines and author details only state facts we can stand behind.
Where numbers come from
- Rules and regulations from the source: the eCFR for federal rules such as 49 CFR Parts 376, 382 and 383, and FMCSA's own pages and notices.
- Tax basics from IRS pages.
- Costs from public research such as ATRI's operational costs of trucking.
- Market rates from public data such as DAT's national averages.
- Company terms and prices only from that company's own public pages, with the date we checked.
Every statistic shows its source and the date. If we can't find a source we trust, we say so instead of guessing, and calculators fall back to your own numbers.
Examples are labeled
To explain a settlement, a load or a week, we often invent a carrier and its numbers. Those are always marked EXAMPLE. We don't publish invented testimonials, reviews, customers, case studies or results. If we ever publish real carrier numbers, they will come from carriers who gave permission, and the page will say so.
Professional topics
Pages about tax, legal, insurance and compliance questions explain the basics and the rule behind them, then tell you to confirm your own situation with a tax professional, an attorney, a licensed insurance agent or the agency itself. We are a dispatch service, not a law firm or an accounting firm.
Calculators
Each calculator shows its formula and every assumption under the tool, and lets you change the assumptions. The math is tested before it is published. Results are estimates, not quotes or advice.
Partners and our own service
Some pages mention partners who may pay us; they are labeled next to the link and explained on our disclosure page. When a comparison includes our own partner, it is placed by the same published criteria as everyone else. Pages also mention our dispatch service where it fits; they never ask you to take our word over a source you can check.
Updates and corrections
Every page shows when it was last updated. Pages built on data, such as rates, costs, prices and testing rates, are checked again at least once a year, and sooner when a rule changes. If you find an error, contact us at our contact page and pick "A correction to a guide". We check it against the source, fix what is wrong, and change the update date.
