ENTRY 01 / SAME-DAY FACTORING
Same-day factoring: what decides how fast freight factoring companies pay you
Fast processing times are the reason most owners factor at all, and nearly every freight factoring company advertises them. Whether you are paid today or tomorrow comes down to three things: whether your account and broker are already set up, whether your paperwork beats the factor's cutoff, and how the money is sent. This page covers all three, with real published cutoffs.

ENTRY 02 / FIRST-INVOICE SETUP TIME
Why the first invoice is never the fastest
"Same-day funding" describes invoice number two onward. Before the first one, the factor has to open your account: check your authority and insurance filing, run a lien search on your business, verify your bank account, and sign the agreement. Then it checks each broker's credit and sends that broker a notice of assignment.
If you need money on a specific day, start the setup before you need it. Apply while your current loads are still running, get approved, and have your regular brokers checked and notified in advance. Then the first load you factor can move as fast as the hundredth.
Have these ready when you apply: your MC and DOT numbers, a current certificate of insurance, a signed W-9, a voided check or bank letter in the business name, a driver's license, and a list of the brokers you haul for most. If an earlier factor or lender filed a UCC lien on your receivables, get its release started at the same time, because a new factor generally can't fund you until that lien is cleared. Ask the factor which of your regular brokers it already works with; those are the ones that can be approved fastest.
ENTRY 03 / TWO CLOCKS
Your delivery clock vs your factor's cutoff
The driver delivers in one time zone; the factor's cutoff runs in another. Set the delivery time, your zone and how long paperwork takes to upload, then pick a published cutoff or enter your own factor's.
SAME DAY IS POSSIBLE · 120 MINUTES TO SPARE
To make this cutoff, paperwork has to be in by 1:00 p.m. CT, so the load must deliver by about 12:30 p.m. CT with your upload time. Zones without daylight saving, like most of Arizona, shift by an hour part of the year.
Published cutoffs, checked October 2026: Summar Financial (2:00 p.m. ET, effective Nov 3, 2025), MJN Services (1:00 p.m. MT). Shown as examples of published terms, not recommendations. Ask your own factor for its cutoff.
The time-zone gap catches western carriers most. A 2:00 p.m. Eastern cutoff is 11:00 a.m. Pacific. A driver delivering in Fresno at 10:30 a.m. who uploads an hour later has already missed it. The fix is not driving faster; it is uploading at the dock, or choosing a factor whose cutoff suits your lanes.
One week of loads: which ones fund the same day
An EXAMPLE owner in the Central time zone, with a factor whose cutoff is 2:00 p.m. Eastern (1:00 p.m. Central), paid by standard ACH.
| DELIVERED | UPLOADED (CT) | FUNDED | MONEY IN THE BANK |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monday 9:00 a.m. | 9:15 a.m. | Monday | Tuesday |
| Tuesday 2:30 p.m. | 2:40 p.m. | Wednesday | Thursday |
| Wednesday 11:00 a.m. | 6:00 p.m., photos sent late | Thursday | Friday |
| Friday 12:15 p.m. | 12:30 p.m. | Friday | Monday |
| Friday 3:00 p.m. | 3:10 p.m. | Monday | Tuesday |
Same factor, same rate, five different paydays. The Wednesday load lost a full day to photos sent in the evening, and the late Friday load waited until Tuesday for money that could have arrived on Monday. A wire or instant payout would have shortened the last column, for a fee.
ENTRY 04 / WHO CONTROLS EACH DELAY
Four parties, four kinds of delay
When money is late, it helps to know whose move it is. Only one of these four is fully in your hands, and it is the one that causes the most delays.
- You, the carrier. Signed, readable BOL; invoice matching the rate con; upload before the cutoff.
- The factor. Verification, its processing queue, and its cutoff time.
- The broker. Confirming delivery and the amount when the factor calls or emails.
- The banks. ACH or wire timing, weekends and bank holidays.
ENTRY 05 / ACH VS WIRE
ACH vs wire: a day, and a fee
| METHOD | USUAL TIMING | TYPICAL FEE |
|---|---|---|
| Standard ACH | Next business day | Free to about $10 |
| Same-day ACH | Same afternoon, if bank and factor support it | Varies by factor |
| Wire | Same day, often within hours | Up to about $30 |
| Instant payment or card push | Minutes, where offered | Varies, often a percentage |
Same-day ACH runs through the Federal Reserve in set settlement windows during the afternoon and early evening Eastern time, and your bank's own deadline is earlier than the Fed's. If you pay for a wire every day, batch invoices into one payout instead. Each fee belongs in your cost comparison; see freight factoring rates and fees.

Weekends, holidays and the Friday trap
ACH payments and wires move on banking days. A factor may verify invoices on a Saturday, but standard bank transfers won't settle until Monday, and a federal holiday adds a day. A Friday delivery that misses the cutoff can easily become a Tuesday deposit.
Some factors now offer instant payouts that run around the clock; OTR Solutions, for example, states funding within seconds of an upload, 24/7, on its site as of October 2026. Ask whether that option costs extra and whether it applies to every invoice. If your fuel and payroll land on Fridays, plan deliveries and uploads with the weekend in mind.
ENTRY 06 / RECOURSE ON FAST MONEY
Fast money and recourse: does speed change the risk?
Speed and recourse are separate terms. A same-day program can be recourse or non-recourse; read which applies to your account, not the marketing. What speed can change is how much checking happens before money moves. A factor funding in minutes relies on checks done in advance, like broker approval and your account history.
That means problems found later, such as a disputed rate or a missing signature, are handled after you have the money: usually as a charge-back against future advances. Fast funding is convenient only if the paperwork behind it is right. For the bigger picture, see our freight factoring page.
Same-day checklist, every load
- - Broker checked and approved by your factor before you sign the rate con.
- - Receiver signature, printed name and date on the BOL before you leave.
- - Photos flat and complete; invoice matches the rate con, with receipts for extras.
- - Uploaded before the cutoff, in the factor's time zone.
- - Payout method chosen with its fee in mind.

Factoring questions
Q01How fast do factoring companies pay?
Once your account is set up and the broker is approved, many factors fund a clean invoice the same business day if it arrives before their cutoff, or the next business day if it doesn't. Some offer instant payouts for a fee. The first invoice with a new factor usually takes longer because of setup checks.
Q02What is the cutoff time for same-day funding?
Each factor sets its own. Two published examples, checked in October 2026: Summar Financial funds invoices submitted before 2:00 p.m. ET the same day, and MJN Services asks for invoices by 1:00 p.m. MT. Ask your factor for its cutoff and which time zone it uses.
Q03ACH vs wire: which is faster?
A wire usually arrives the same day, often within hours. A standard ACH usually arrives the next business day, and same-day ACH can arrive the same afternoon if your bank and factor support it. Wires often cost more; DAT Outgo puts wire fees at up to about $30 and ACH fees at up to about $10.
Q04Why was my factoring payment delayed?
Most delays are paperwork: a missing receiver signature, an invoice that doesn't match the rate con, an unreadable BOL, or a detention charge without proof. Others come from the broker not yet confirming the load, a broker the factor hasn't approved, an upload after the cutoff, or a bank holiday.
